That’s right folks, on Fridays we wear Fire Shirts! If your WWF is anything like mine, then your house is undoubtedly filled with fire shirts from every fire, every state, and every agency. I’m pretty sure My Love would wear them 365 days of the year if I didn’t make him take me out every blue moon! However, to show my loving support for not only my man but the entire Wild Land Fire Community, I wear them every Friday. Plus, it’s pretty much the only time I can convince Daddy to match with Mommy.

Loving a WWF is no walk in the park. The job is demanding for them and even more so for their families. The men and women protecting our land from Wild Land Fires spend weeks and weeks away from their families, sometimes without cell phone service or the luxury to call home. I wear mine to connect with my babe even when I can’t. I wear his fire shirts to let him know that I appreciate him and I support him and I am PROUD. I wear them to remember the fires he fought, the land he protected, and those who stood beside him.

My Love has been fighting fires for 9 years now… that is too many shirts and too many fires to count! But seriously…. it’s getting time to retire some of those shirts and I am currently putting aside as many as I can to sew a collaborative quilt for us to keep and pass down. I’ll share details once it’s finished. Until then, if you are new to the Fire community…. wear a shirt on Friday!
